Medicare has set the standards for most Medical Insurance Companies that pay claims arising from Medical needs. I read the other day where an HMO is setting a new standard for the medical insurance industry. This HMO paid out 100 million dollars every year, defending and paying for claims that reached the courts. The solution this HMO came up with is to pay any claim that is the result of a Medical Doctor's prescription. Now with a 100 million budget this HMO can pay all of the claims and have a lesser legal defense cost. Granted this HMO hires the Doctors that write the prescriptions but it is a step in the right direction. The lesson to learn here it Take Time to Talk to your surgeon or Medical Doctor and explain how you need to keep your stoma covered at all times which reduces your coughing. Not just to keep the food crumbs out of your stoma but to actually filter the air you breath. If the proper stoma covering is used it will warm and moisturize the air you inhale. In general proper Stoma Covering will make coping with your new life much easier.
Now is the time we all get angry at the United States Postal Service because it seems to slow down. We use the USPS for most of our deliveries and like it. In fact we deduct the postal charge when sending by FedEx. Our charge has been $7.00 since 1990. If you need second day delivery just call of our 800 numbers and the delivery charge will be only $7.00.
The people I admire are those: The busy ones, the happy ones I like to see courageous lives That face each day Along the way without complaining that some gray Has hidden every bit of sun. E.E.Carr

The Medicare allowable for a Foam Filter is 36¢ and has not been raised in a few years. How ridiculous, at 36¢ per day for those who use one per day you won't met the deductible for the year 2000 until the fourth quarter of the year. Oh, by the way all of our Stoma Care products are covered under the same code so you must include all of your needs on the prescription stating how many uses per day. Do it by dollars not actual daily changes. $33.00 every 90 days is the cost of a person using one per day, $66.00 every 90 days is what a two per day user will pay. $99.00 is what a three per day user will pay every 90 days. Sit down and have a sincere discussion with your Medical Doctor and calculate your usage of Stoma Care Products for the year 2000. Remember you can only order every 90 days so be sincere. I suggest, at least four per day. This is $132.00 per quarter. Your first purchase satisfies your Part B deductible for the year., Then your cost is only $26.40 per quarter for Stoma Care Products in the New Year 2000, I am talking about the active laryngectomee out in the muck and mire of every day life and coming in contact with the sneezing, coughing public on a daily basis. Or if you choose to lead a sheltered life calculate your daily use over the past year. For most of you that have a secondary insurance that pays the deductible and pay for anything Medicare doesn't, call for a Doctor's appointment today. We are talking about the new Century and your Stoma Care needs. We sell only fresh foam and medical grade adhesive manufactured in the United States. Imagine how old, foreign products, are by the time they arrive here. Who makes them and under what conditions. The 2000 price makes the cost of a Foam Filter 36¢. Medicare will pay 80%, of this cost after the yearly deductible has been met and you have a proper prescription and Medicare Part B information on file with your DME supplier.* Naturally we will accept assignment on any Medicare Claim for Stoma Care products, Artificial Larynx, batteries, repairs or supplies, we sell.* No need to wait for Medicare to pay. Just pay the 20% after the deductible has been met and let us worry, about how much or when Medicare will pay.* The (*) asterisk says, "Medicare recipients whose Zip Code begins with a '0' or '1' should call 1-800-295-0094, our Insurance/Medicare office before sending an order for Stoma Care products". Please call our 800 numbers for all other orders. |
